The Thai Phin Tung Sacred Tree at Thai Phin Tung commune, Dong Van district is a spiritual site of the Hmong ethnic people in this area. The tree is 0,7m in diameter. In the middle of the rocky valley, a big tree standing alone is amazing and there must be some spiritual reason for it to remain and challenge the time. Since long, the Hmong people here always believe that a God resides at this tree. He has the ability to neutralize all the pain and misery, bring luck and happiness to people. Any Hmong person who passes by from a funeral often ties a red cloth on a branch of the tree or a rugged rocky hook with a desire to get rid of all the bads and to meet luck in his/her life. On March 3rd of lunar year, the Vang Family of Hmong people in this village hold a ceremony to worship God and every 12 years, they hold a major ceremony for good luck and for enhancing solidarity in the family as well as in the community. The Thai Phin Tung Sacred Tree and a cluster of rock forest create an attractive scenery in this valley. ... View more
